1What We Collect
When you use Panchayat, we collect the following information:
- Account info — your name, profile photo, and bio, set by you during sign-up.
- Location — your village or town (state, district, block, panchayat), set by you. We do not collect GPS coordinates unless you tap "Auto-Detect."
- Posts & media — text posts, photos, videos, and voice notes that you choose to share.
- Device token — a unique FCM (notification) token so we can send you push notifications for likes, comments, and follows. This is not linked to your phone number or device ID in any way we share.
- Auth credentials — phone number (for OTP sign-in) or email/password (for email sign-in). Passwords are never stored by us — they're managed by Supabase Auth.
2Why We Collect It
- Local feed — your location lets us show you posts from your village, block, and district, the core feature of Panchayat.
- Notifications — your FCM token is used only to send you notifications about activity on your account. You can turn these off in Settings.
- Your identity — your name and photo appear on your posts and profile so people in your community know who you are.
3How It's Stored
All data is stored securely via Supabase, a cloud platform with encryption at rest and in transit. Your media uploads (photos, videos, voice notes) are stored in Supabase Storage.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or third parties. Your data stays within the Panchayat platform.
4Location Data
Location is used exclusively to show you content relevant to your area — posts from your village, panchayat, block, and district.
If you use "Auto-Detect Location," the app requests your device's GPS coordinates temporarily to fill in your village/district. We do not store raw GPS coordinates — only the matched location name (e.g. "Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh") is saved to your profile.
You can change or remove your location anytime in the app under Settings → Account → Change Location.
5Data Sharing & Third Parties
Panchayat uses the following trusted service providers to run the app. They process data strictly on our behalf and do not use it for their own purposes:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — delivering push notifications to your device.
We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party.
6Children's Privacy
Panchayat is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us using the details below and we will remove it.
